Dragon City Wiki

For those of you who wish to contribute to DCW.

Instructions[]

If you are one of the lucky people who get to know about a Dragon who was released so recently that no one else on DCW knows about it, here's your chance to make your mark.

  1. Notify an admin by leaving a note about, say, Unicorn Dragon on their message wall. It should say something like:
Hi, a new Dragon was released recently. Please see [[Unicorn Dragon]].
make sure your spelling is correct (very important) and publish your post.
  2. If the words "Unicorn Dragon" turns red after your post, then click on it. This will bring you straight to the correct page.
  3. Copy the following code, paste it in the Editing area, and you're done.

It's that simple.

If there are errors, don't worry about it. The following code is correct and has been tested several times. An Admin will come along shortly and fix the cause for the error. A handy way to compare is to click Edit on an early dragon page such as the Terra Dragon to compare your page code to that. When done just click Cancel on the Edit page to close the Terra Dragon page without saving changes. 'Be sure to save your changes on your new page

Notes[]

  • It's not mandatory but it's helpful if you add some description to what you changed on the page when saving. There is a way to compare changes but since edits are published to the DCW Discord server, it helps members see what was changed.
  • If you don't have enough information ,you can add what you can and add the {{construction}} tag at the top of the page. This will add a banner like this:
  • For pages that do not have the template you could also add the {{stub}} tag, which marks a page as having no information. However it is preferred you add the page code and add the {{construction}} tag instead, as other editors can then come along and fill in missing info. This banner looks like this:
  • Further or Unique information can be inserted or expanded.
  • Fae-Flora Dragon along with many her later generation dragons don't have young skin, thus <Unknown Dragon 2.png> and <Unknown Dragon m2.png> are no longer needed. They have been left in the above code until all older dragon pages have been migrated to the new code.
  • For the Move/Attacks Parameter, you enter this method:
    • = info <n> =no = Normal Attack, normal symbol shows
    • = info <n> =yes = Trained/Strong Attack, symbol shows with spiked outline
    • = info <n> =special = Special Skills, symbol shows with flame outline
  • "Trivia" or "References" section can be added if you know something extra that is not covered.
    • An example would be for the St Patrick’s Dragon, by adding in the Trivia section that St. Patrick Dragon is based on St. Patrick was the patron saint of the Republic of Ireland
