I'm fine, just extreemly buzzy all the time. So far I have been focussing a lot on my studies and on my free time I tend to focus on things that can expand this experience. This mostly include HTML5, CSS3, JSON, JS, XML, XSE, PHYTON, PHP, SQL, etc...
So far it's been so long I played dragon city that I just have no clue anymore what's going on. This makes it pretty difficult to involve with any project towards dragon city when it requires knowledge of the game itself or from the community to get the job done.
This is probaly the main reason why I currently remain on the background on this wikia. Their is litterly nothing I can do in a short amount of time without collecting other information first.
Another limitation I have right now I that I'm no longer involved on the wikia community & dev wikia. This also makes it harder to combine the existing extensions into more user friendly results.
So right now I tend to limit my work towards wikia on personal scripts that doesn't involve any of the wikia extensions nor give global support for all devices. To give a example: A friend of mine ask if I could make a script to calculate the stats/level in the infobox of the LoL wikia. I ever start to play LoL because a friend of mine wanted to get another recruit point of something. So with that basic experience it was not that hard to code this personal script. The community liked it and made it global on the wikia with some adjustments like you can see here.
This is the reason I will probaly remain on the background for a long time. I'm not sure I will ever manage to have the time again. Next year I have dubble the amount of courses I that I have this year. I'm not sure I would be able todo projects on the wikia ever again from that moment on.
I tend to focus more and more on project that really expand my experience on a short amount of time. And it becomes harder & harder to forfill that with limitations. Whe all known whe have a lot on wikia and most of the time it's more on bypassing those limitations than working with all available resources.
I've always been surprised by what causes you to actually react. I didn't think you'd reply to me here. You have always been a hard person to predict, and today I'm happy to be surprised.
Speaking of DCW, I don't expect this game to hold your interest and I'd be disappointed if it did. You're too good for this kid stuff. Also, it's a bad game. I have said that from day one.
Speaking of jobs, I just started Monday as a developer with a company that works with Salesforce. I'm learning APEX, which is saleforce's java for dummies. It's my first actual programing, and no, I refused to system.debug '(hello world'). I am finally free of working in kitchens for low pay and no future doing tasks a monkey could do.
I cut my hair for this job. My pay is 1.5x what it was, I have medical insurance for the first time in 12 years, and I now get paid vacation, a lifetime first. There are travel opertunities as well as we have clients and workers in several countries.
As far as adjusting to the new environment, I'm terrified.
Where do I fart? How do I eat? Why is everyone sitting so still? Why is it so quiet? What exactly am I supposed to do?
The sound is especially difficult to adjust to. No exhaust system, no coolers, no ovens, no knives, no music, conversations half spoken and half in gmail chat... and I'm sitting instead of standing and walking. After so many years, it takes adjustment.
You should come to America and get a job as my boss. Hell, you probably don't have to leave home as everything we do is cloud-based. We could run our whole company with laptops at starbucks. The owner's "right hand man" (my new chef) lives 2 hours away and supervises the office entirely through VOIP.
Well im playing Dragon city for about 2 months its a fun game so I invitewd my cousin to play it too. He want to get stronger by not playing fairly so he search for cheat and hacks for dragon city. He found a site named Ntuan.Info and try to cheat, but my he accidentally put may gameid on the site and cheat for EXP. I got surprise because when i saw my level its 73 but my true level is 37 is there anything to do to rollback my exp ?
I am looking into doing the World Cup events as a tabview to clean up the utter mess that it is at this point. I am a programmer but not familar with wiki code for it. I have recently been working with vb.net doing a wpf version of a tabview so some of the concepts are fresh in my head. What do you have handy on this element?
We also have a place for drawings on the Forum called The Drawing Board. You should know this is a fan site...we are not Social Point, the creators of the game. To speak to them, go to their Forum. You can find a link to it on the top Nav>DCW>DCW links>Social Point Forum.
Yeah, their is nothing we can do about this right now. Wikia has changed the limit and now their servers can't hold our database anymore. Whe hope they find an fix soon. In the mean time where looking into alternative ways but that takes time. Wikia really f*cked up this time. If our infobox would be put online now the entire wikia crash again...
Jens, I don't know what kind of access you have, but you may be able to request that they pre-cache a majority of your infrequently changed by high hit count pages. Here's what I wrote on another thread:
If that's the reason they altered the templates, then that means the templates were never written correctly. Most of the pages should have been pre-rendered and cached server-side on a daily basis since they don't change that often. That would take care most of, if not all of the problem. All that would be impacted is that users that change pages would only see corrections or updates after a few hours rather than immediately.
That's just my 2 cents worth. I hope it helps. If you want to discuss server side load balancing vs dynamic page design (templates), I'm happy to. I'm a little out of practice with it, but a lot of what I know still holds true.
In the mean time, do you have or know of someone that has a current master list of dragon stats? Some have shared them on Google docs or similar services. Mine is incomplete, since I was using the site.
